Network Team Manager - Bristol, UK

Applicable is seeking a new Network Team Manager to join our Infrastructure and Cloud Services team.

As the Network Team Manager, you will be the global leader of the Network discipline within Infrastructure and Cloud Services that provides the capability necessary to develop, secure and manage our network.

Applicable runs hybrid UC and collaboration services for some of the world's largest enterprise customers with over 340,000 application users - we understand what it means to deliver mission critical services.


About the role

As the Network Team Manager, you will be responsible for managing and developing the global network engineering team. This requires providing leadership for the team in the network space, owning and progressing the strategic roadmap, supporting and owning projects for Project Delivery. You will support the Service Operations activities and actively seeking the opportunity to improve the quality and efficiency of any activity related to the network and Data Centres.

A typical day in the role, you will get involved in:

Leading the global team of Network engineers. You will be responsible for leadership of the network discipline, task management and development of the Network engineers. Including maintaining team awareness of industry trends and technologies.

Supporting the Head of Infrastructure and Cloud Services on the strategic vision for Network function, with a consolidated technology roadmap and vendor alignment.

Be part of the resource pool for operational activity and Professional Service engagements.

Delivering and supporting services to ensure value for our customers, the users and Applicable for Network services. Scheduling Operation activity and providing operation activities such as incident, request, problem and change management.

Contributing to Service Design activity such as input into capacity management, availability management, and security.

Designing solutions and infrastructure that meets these requirements.

Developing a robust and structured way of operating with the team in order to allow Projects and Operations to consume services from the team in a consistent and reliable fashion.

Maturing and improving the enterprise delivery of Network Services.

Participating in the Network team on-call rota (1 week over 5).


About the applicant

You will have been in similar roles before, either managing a team or leading a large-scale project. You will take ownership and will be able to improve and motivate the team. As a Network Team Manager, you will possess strong people skills and work well with other teams.

You'll be passionate, dynamic and self-motivated, and will bring the following skills to the role:


Ideally you will have:

Previous experience as a Network manager or senior network engineer supporting successful enterprise-scale projects and/or enterprise-scale operations

Ability to lead a team, inspire desired behaviour in others and represent management

Certified to at least CCNP level or previously held CCNP certification

Experience from leading networking vendors e.g. Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto and Dell

Experience of routing, switching, security, firewalls and load balancing

Ability to engage and communicate with staff at all levels within the company, partners, suppliers and customers


Bonus point for:

Good external-facing and presentation skills

Security certification relevant to ISO 27001 accreditation

Exposure to design/deployment of Microsoft products, especially Teams, Skype for Business and Exchange

Experience managing data centre-hosted infrastructure
